A Good Accompanist Is Hard to Find, but an Excellent Accompanist Is Worth Their Weight in Gold
A good accompanist does far more than play the notes. In the pressure of an exam or performance, the right pianist provides musical support, confidence and a genuine sense of partnership. Through careful rehearsal, performers learn to recover from mistakes, manage nerves and trust the music. I have experienced both poor and exceptional accompaniment, and the difference was profound. A good accompanist does the job; an excellent one truly is worth their weight in gold.
